The delicate art of hardstone marquetry
The history of hardstone marquetry begins in Florence in the 16th century. The decorative medallion on our Médicis beauty minaudière is a tribute to this refined and centuries-old art, and to the dynasty that patronized it.
Creating the hardstone marquetry on our minaudière requires over 100 hours of work from our lapidary artisans. First, the most beautiful stones must be selected from fragments of white Howlite, pink Thulite, black Obsidian, red Jasper, and finally Tiger Eye. Then comes the process of cutting, polishing, and laying out the design to create the medallion on the powder compact of the minaudière. Adorned with this marquetry, the minaudière becomes a precious jewel in the palm of your hand.

The Temyris beauty minaudière is a showcase of virtuosity. With its ultra-compact size that integrates the three essential beauty touches, it is a legacy of the objets de vertu of the 18th and 19th centuries. Like the centuries-old art of the tinsmiths, the lipstick, powder compact, and perfume of the minaudière are machined from brass and then plated with 24-carat gold. Their finish is incomparable and provides the sensation of handling perfectly fitted elements designed to stand the test of time without ever deteriorating. The galalith, with its unique texture, adds a touch of nobility to this object of desire and covetousness.
